SELF CONTROL: A MAJOR INGREDIENT IN THE FULFILMENT OF PURPOSE

Young man, you need the fruit of the spirit to impact your world more than you do for the gifts of the spirit. The gifts are great and are important but the fruit that the spirit of God produces in you is vital to your design. God places his spirit in you once you are born again. The disconnect that took place in the garden of Eden was rectified by Jesus and in him we have life for life. It is no longer you that lives but Christ in you. Thus, you need to walk in the spirit if you have been raised by the spirit. God places his Spirit in you to produce fruit of self control. Self control is critical to whatever you will become in life. Imagine Esau who lacked self control and exchanged his birthright with portage.  He was hungry and that was normal. He was famished to the point that he thought he would die. Yet, that was not enough for him to let go of a vital component of his destiny. He could not control his appetite. His appetite was wild for food and not only food but women and lust. Lack of self control made him lose his birthright. He later sought it with tears but could not get it. When you lack self control, I am very sure you are heading to an end that is deleterious and dangerous. Moses allowed anger to finish his long standing testimonies by beating Jesus who followed them in the wilderness. Samson lost the grace of God because of lust for women. However, Joseph allowed the presence of God with him to help him pick a race from what could have finished him.  You must control yourself of all that gives temporary pleasure and take away eternal treasure. You must rid yourself of dangerous appetites if you will become anything tangible in the hand of God and if you will finish well and strong. Lust for power, women and men, money and assets could destroy the valuable design of God for you. Watch that you don't end up like Samson or Esau. Take serious lessons from Joseph Jacob and allow the Holy Spirit to help put yourself under control.
