What God Does in You Shapes What He Does for You
One of the greatest truths in the journey of faith is this: when I stop what God is doing in me, I tamper with what He is doing for me. The story of Abraham makes this truth come alive in a powerful way. God gave him a promise, not only of a son but of Himself as his exceeding great reward. Yet, between the promise and the fulfillment, there was a process. That process was not merely about producing a child; it was about producing a man who could carry a covenant that would bless generations.
At the age of 86, Abraham chose a shortcut. Instead of waiting for the divine timing, he attempted to secure the promise by human means through Hagar. In that moment, the delicate work God was doing inside him was interrupted. And because what God is doing within you determines what He can release to you, Abraham’s impatience brought a delay. Heaven went silent. Scripture records that for thirteen years there was no new word from God until Abraham was ninety nine. When the Lord finally spoke again, His command was precise and weighty: Walk before Me and be blameless. God was not just demanding morality; He was calling Abraham back to the process, back to the heart work that would make him ready to carry the blessing.
Young man, hear this clearly. The process of God is not just about the promise you are waiting for; it is about the person He is forming you to become. When you bypass the process, you do not just delay the promise, you damage the vessel meant to hold it. A shortcut may give you what looks like the reward, but it will not carry the eternal weight of the blessing because the heart has not been prepared to sustain it.
Guard what God is doing in you with holy jealousy. Protect your secret place with Him because your destiny flows from there. When God works in you, He is laying the foundation for what He intends to do for you and through you. If that inner work is broken, the outer manifestation becomes fragile or even forfeited. Your obedience today is not only about the present; it is the seedbed of your future. Do not exchange years of shaping for a moment of self gratification. Do not trade the eternal design of God for the fleeting satisfaction of a shortcut.
Remember that When what God is doing in you is tampered with, what He is doing for you is placed in jeopardy. Stay under His hand. Trust His timing. Yield to His process even when it hurts. Let Him complete the deep work within, so that you can fully walk in the greatness He has prepared for you.
