Becoming the Man God Sees

The plan of God for your life will surely come to pass. That much is certain, not because of your strength but because of His faithfulness. Yet, the fulfilment of destiny is never automatic. It demands your partnership, making the right decisions as He guides, cultivating the grace and gifts He has deposited in you, and growing intentionally through the relationships He orchestrates.

Often, God takes His chosen ones through seasons of obscurity, not to punish them but to prepare them. In those desert seasons, He places certain men around them, strategic voices, mentors, and friends whose roles are to shape, refine, and even provoke growth. These are not random encounters. They are divine alignments meant to build you for the weight of the future you have been called to carry.

David’s life is a compelling example. Though anointed by the prophet Samuel to be king, he did not ascend the throne the next day. Instead, he returned to the field, tending sheep, confronting lions and bears, and playing the harp in solitude. While the oil of kingship was upon him, the crown remained at a distance. His heart was being prepared in the wilderness, even as his hands were learning to war.

He did not rush the process. When the chance came to eliminate Saul, the man who stood in his way, David refused. “I will not lay my hand on the Lord’s anointed,” he said with resolve. That decision was not driven by ambition but by alignment. He understood that rushing what God is building only leads to ruins.

And in those hidden years, God sent him a Jonathan, a brother, a covenant friend, a man who saw in him what many missed. Jonathan's friendship was not just emotional support, it was a spiritual pillar. Without Jonathan, David might have faltered under pressure. Such relationships are not casual, they are covenantal. And every man becoming what God sees must learn to recognize and honour them.

So, young man, God’s plan for you will not fail, but you must be fully present in your own becoming. Obey when He speaks. Wait when He delays. Work while you watch. Grow even when it seems no one sees you. For in the fullness of time, like David, you will not need to chase the throne. The throne will come looking for you.

And when it does, you will be ready, not because of a moment of glory but because of years of becoming.
